DUBAI: The job market in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) experienced a significant shift in 2024, with over 53.3 million professionals actively seeking opportunities.
As industries evolved and businesses expanded, job seekers submitted 17.4 million applications, reflecting a competitive and dynamic employment landscape.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerged as key markets, recording 6.9 million and 5.8 million job applications, respectively.
The region’s professionals and businesses relied heavily on digital recruitment platforms to navigate the changing job market, with Bayt.com – the Middle East’s leading job site – at the forefront of this transformation. With more than 76.1 million visits recorded in 2024, the platform played a pivotal role in connecting job seekers with potential employers.
Bayt.com’s role in talent acquisition
Bayt.com continued to serve as a critical bridge between professionals and hiring companies, facilitating over 4.6 million CV views by employers searching for the right talent. The platform welcomed 2.8 million new job seekers during the year, further enriching its diverse and skilled talent pool.

Recognising the importance of direct engagement, Bayt.com hosted 51 career-focused events, drawing participation from 23,700 job seekers and 4,500 employers. These initiatives included 38 specialised workshops designed to equip candidates with the skills needed to stand out in a competitive market. Additionally, 20 university collaborations provided career guidance to 4,000 students, while Emiratisation initiatives engaged 1,500 Emiratis, helping them access career-building opportunities.
Fresh graduates and career development
Bayt.com also played a crucial role in supporting young professionals entering the workforce. Its Fresh Graduates in MENA Survey revealed that 82% of recent graduates were satisfied with their education, while 63% had gained work experience during their studies. In response, Bayt.com connected graduates with internships and entry-level roles, ensuring they had access to relevant career opportunities.
Through career fairs, research, and training programmes, the platform helped fresh graduates make a smooth transition into the workforce. These efforts aligned with the broader goal of addressing skills gaps and preparing young professionals for long-term success.

Throughout 2024, Bayt.com conducted multiple surveys to gauge workforce priorities and employer expectations. A study on leadership qualities found that 85.4% of professionals viewed emotional intelligence as a key trait, while 82.5% considered adaptability essential for career growth.
Corporate culture also played a major role in employee satisfaction, with 68% of UAE professionals expressing pride in their organisation’s products and services. Additionally, 54% actively recommended their workplace to peers, highlighting the impact of a positive work environment on talent retention.
